Heavily Marked Foal with the Grey Gene

Heavily Marked Foal with the Grey Gene
Heavily marked foal, that carries the grey gene and will fade, you can see the ‘goggles’ developing around the eyes, please note that not all foals with the grey gene are born so spotty. Horses with the ”grey gene” are usually born with lots of spots, often with so many spots that they almost look like they have a ‘solid’ colour, though they can also be born with a spotted blanket, or totally solid etc. Often in the foals first moult they will develop ”white spectacles” By the time they are yearlings, much of the dark hair in the spots has been replaced by white hair, the change is rapid and the horses have either turned white or the spots are barely visible by the age of 4 or 5. The pigment of the skin does not change, only the hair turns white.
